Hungarian violist Tamás Rozsos was born into a family of musicians in Budapest in 1981 and began studying music at the age of 5. Originally a violin player, he switched to the viola at 18. Known for his warm sound and collaborative spirit, he is an accomplished chamber musician and teacher.
Tamás Rozsos studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music with Lászlo Bársony of the Budapest String Quartet, and graduated from there in 2005 with a master of performance and teaching. That year he moved to Switzerland to continue his studies with Zoltan Toth of the Neuchâtel Conservatory of Music, where he received a concert diploma in 2008. Since 2008, he has been studying viola with Nobuko Imai and chamber music with Gabor Takacs-Nagy at the Geneva Conservatory of Music.
Rozsos has participated in numerous festivals as a chamber musician, including the Eilat Festival, the Casals Festival and at the Verbier Festival Amateur Chamber Week. He has attended master classes with Nobuko Imai, Kim Kashkashian, Tatjana Mazurenko and Janos Starker.
Rozsos has performed in concerts in Japan, Hungary and Switzerland, including as a winner of the Podium of Young Soloists in 2008 and in Takefu and Fukui, Japan, as part of an ensemble of nine violas, in 2009.
He is married to the pianist Tomoko Iimura.
